Do I need to order a set amount of meals?
No. The Food Shed is a flexible service; the number of meals ordered can change depending on what days are required that week or which meals sound more appealing. The service can be accessed short term e.g. for a week or two after coming out of hospital, or long term depending on the need.
What time are meals delivered?
Meals are delivered roughly between 12pm – 2pm. If customers would like to order a tea time snack for later in the day, these are delivered with the hot meal at lunch time and put in the customer’s fridge for later that day.
How can I pay for meals?
The Food Shed prefer clients to pay for meals via Direct Debit and can be invoiced in arrears at the end of the month. Clients can also pay by cheque or cash for meals ordered for the week.
How much notice do you ned to order/cancel meals?
We need to know before 12pm the day before for any new orders or existing orders to be cancelled without charge. Unfortunately, any orders cancelled after 12pm the day before will still be charged.
How are the meals delivered?
All our meals are kept hot in foil compartment trays. During delivery, the foil containers are stored in heat bags to keep them hot. On delivery, the driver can plate up the meal for the customer and ensure they have a fresh cold drink to hand.
What areas do you cover?
The Food Shed currently covers the whole of Bridgend County, Port Talbot and the Vale of Glamorgan. Areas within Neath currently include Skewen, Neath Abbey, Neath town centre, Tonna, Cimla, Llandarcy and Briton Ferry.
Who are your delivery staff?
Our friendly, helpful delivery staff have experience in supporting individuals within the community. All our delivery staff have a cleared Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS police) check to ensure they have no convictions around working with vulnerable adults within the community.
How can you access the property?
If a customer is unable to open the door, we can access the property via a keysafe if available. Unfortunately, we are unable to hold keys to a customer’s property.
Why do you not have the option of a tea time snack on a Saturday and Sunday?
Our service runs a little differently on the weekend. Saturday meals are chilled, but heated up in the customer’s microwave by the driver and plated up as normal. The Food Shed are hoping to be able to deliver the tea time snack option seven days a week from April 2017.
We are proud to be associated and partly funded by our trusted partners.
